"Dont always compare yourself to those who are better, because you tend to complain and be hateful. Always compare yourself to those who are worse, so you may always be grateful" - Suhaib Ibn Najeeb
This quote gets me teary every time. Really, its the magnificient message behind it, let alone the pure soul that stated it. I find myself reminding myself of who I am, and what I am- but never in comparison to others. See, we take for granted so much. From the shelter we live in, our family even our friends. We're not as greatful as we should be. It is important that we count our blessings and not forget our purpose in this lifetime. This is a reminder to myself first. For the words that come from my mouth, I'm the first to hear. As India Arie says, "its the littelest things" that make us truly happy.
I find it true that comparing ourselves to those who are more "successful" causes us to question our capabilities and therefore we complain and are unappreciative...sometimes. What happened to optimism and change? The hope we desparately need to see is not visible anymore, and I truly don't know who to blame. I suggest we look within ourselves to better who we are, because truly, we are the ones who can change us, before anyone else can.
I hope this doesnt sound like junk. I have a tendency to ineffectively convey my message, I hope you get the just of it though.
